The BirdLife Middle East Division is based in Amman, Jordan, and acted as a regional hub for the WOW project in the Middle East. This ensured full synergy with parallel conservation initiatives that aim to support flyway-level conservation of migratory birds in the region. The BLMED team supported the regional adaptation and translation of the Training and Awareness Programme, and coordinated regional inputs into the development of the Critical Sites Network Tool. This WOW regional hub was also closely overseeing the implementation of the WOW demonstration project in Yemen (with the YSWP).
The BirdLife Middle East Division currently includes Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Iran and is being serviced and supported by a decentralized Regional Secretariat located in Amman, Jordan. The regional secretariat coordinates activities, disseminates information and provides services to the BirdLife partner organizations and to all WOW stakeholders in the region.
