19 - 30 May 2008 - The ninth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP9) is currently underway in Bonn, Germany. The WOW Project team is using the conference as an opportunity to present the project to the 5000+ international delegates attending the meeting. In addition to being present with new displays and publications at several WOW Partner exhibition stands for the duration of the conference, a dedicated WOW side event is being organised to highlight the project and in particular the Critical Sites Network (CSN) Tool.
The side event is using the theme of the recent World Migratory Bird Day: "Migratory Birds - Ambassadors for Biodiversity" to draw attention to the link between the conservation and identification of sites required by migratory birds and the conservation of wider biodiversity. At the side event a first preliminary (beta) version of the Critical Sites Network (CSN) Tool will be presented to attending delegates.
